2009 "Frozen Nut" Shoot

Postby Gregory Markle on 01 Mar 2009 20:05

Here's a few stills from my initial browsing of things...

The only difference between setting up for this shoot and the Fall 2008 shoot was the temperature...both featured precipitation, it was just frozen this time!

Thanks Paulie! You make us feel like family. You treat us right. BTW, sorry about your lawn. Didn't realize it was so soft. :( I had a great time. I would like to come up and take you and Leslie out to dinner at Three Birds, with my best girl Lisa, my treat. I will try to make this happen.

Even though I love to get out to the range and shoot, personally about 60% of the reason I show up is for the Friday night pizza, camaraderie and bad jokes!! The social portion of our weekend at Paul's, Bill's Place, Three Birds and the ballet is as much, if not more, of a reason to show up. It's not often that we get to hang out with a group of knowledgeable, like-minded individuals in such a relaxed setting...getting to shoot the guns is simply a plus!!

Oh yeah...and I have all of the video pulled from my DV cam...here are a few stills I captured from what I recorded. Now that I've got my hardware situation solidified (the new bus-powered FireWire 800 drive was essential, just got it in January) I won't keep you waiting six months for video!

The local chief of police had a blast trying out some of the weapons present!

I think I found a new favorite subgun...the Sterling Mark V is simply stupid quiet and about as accurate as you could want. I find it amazing that this is 50+ year-old technology!!

Mark told me to get some video of him shooting the M82 Barrett for his son Easton. It seems Easton is a big fan of the Barrett and, sadly, had to attend another function during our shoot.

Dualing betas!!

Paul "deflowers" the Sterling Mark V. It wasn't an unfired gun but WE hadn't shot it since acquiring it a few weeks ago...and we wanted our host to be the first one of us to try her out. Lucky bastard!

Scotty prepares to shoot a Walther MPL.

Mark goes all "homeboy" with his Sten!

I actually e-mailed that guy who started the thread on arfcom to let him know we want to keep the shoot quiet. I was hoping the thread would just get buried. The less publicity the better. Otherwise, good job on the pics Greg! I will let you know at the next shoot when I am ready to shoot the twins with dueling betas before hand next time so you can get footage. I just get so excited :P

Have to agree with Greg that shooting guns is simply the icing on the cake compared to the friendship we have!!!!!!!!!
